The Web Designing Process
1. Preliminary conference with client by phone, email, or in person to discuss client's website needs.
2. Based upon our preliminary conference, I will compose a cost estimate for you, which will be my best estimate as I understand your needs. Please note that the actual fees may be more or less than the estimate, since it is impossible to be completely accurate until I get in there and do the work. I will also give you an estimated deadline. I strive to have websites completed in approximately 30 days, but it also depends on the number of pages on the web site, the amount of work involved, how quickly information is given to me, and my current workload.
3. An agreement will be signed by both parties.
4. After everything has been signed and agreed upon, and the deposit is paid, the client is responsible for gathering together all materials needed to complete the project. I cannot be responsible for delays on your part, especially if a deadline is requested. I will inform you up front of what we need to begin and complete the project, and any other expenses as they arise during the designing process. Any and all materials physically submitted to me will be returned to you after the site is completed. Please read Tips for Making Your Website Successful.
5. During construction, your site will be uploaded to a private site for viewing purposing only. Any and all user names and/or passwords given to me will remain confidential and such information will not be disclosed to any one for any reason at any time. The use of user name and passwords shall be used by me for the sole purpose of creating and/or uploading your website to the server hosting the site and for no other reason whatsoever.
6. When you are completely satisfied, I will send the final bill. After the final payment is made, I will upload the site to your web host. When you need your site updated or changed, website maintenance will be done at a cost of $25.00 per hour. Upon payment for services rendered, any and all design work for this website will become your sole ownership.
There will be NO REFUNDS for any services rendered. Website designing is a service, not a product. Website designing involves complex coding in order to prepare text, photos, audio, and other materials for internet use. Even if you decide you don't want the website, the work has been done and has to be paid for. Pre-payments and over-payments will be returned if no work has been done.
Terms of Use
What You'll Need to Do
1. Decide upon a domain name, if desired; i.e., www.yourname.com. Please be advised if you use free web space, such as Geocities.com, you will have advertising and/or "pop-ups", that will not compliment your business. Also, your website location would not be a unique name. For example, it would be www.geocites.com/yourname.
2. Decide upon a website host. I highly recommend www.bluehost.com.
To help you understand web designing terms, I will explain them like this: Your actual website, with all its pages, is like a home. You will need a place to put it. The web space is like land that you need to rent to put your home on. The website host is like a landlord that you will rent the land from. The domain name (www.yourname.com) is your address, where visitors can find your site.
3. After choosing your host, register your domain name with them, while purchasing your website hosting package/plan. The domain name is more or less $10 per year, while the hosting will run anywhere from $3.95 a month and up, depending upon what features you are needing for your site. You can always start with the smallest package the host offers and add more features, if you see that you need them later on. If you have any questions or help, let me know and I'll be glad to assist you. (I do charge $25/hour for assistance.)
4. Gather any material, text, photos, and other information that I may request of you.
5. Let me do the rest!
